About the author

Mental health clinician. Educator. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Trainer. Television geek. Comedy freak.

Patricia Morency, LCSW, M.Ed. (she/her/hers), is a clinical social worker, college professor, and sexologist. She has dual master’s degrees in Social Work and Human Sexuality Education from Widener University. Patricia has worked in community mental health and higher education institutes across different regions of the United States. She has expertise in gender identity, sexual orientation, sexual health, and the relationship spectrum. She provides training in anti-racism, LGBTQ+ inclusivity, and social justice, sometimes using media analysis and sometimes using irreverent comedic psychoeducation.

Patricia specializes in teaching and counseling diverse and marginalized populations through a trauma-informed, intersectional, and uncolonizing lens. She utilizes such techniques under the belief that true healing for these groups cannot begin until there is an acknowledgment of historical systems of oppression and a desire to unpack how these systems continue to negatively impact these populations. Her practice includes validating the lived oppressive experiences of her clients and students as well as advocating for systemic change. Lastly, she is a proud second-generation Haitian American and an East Coast Millennial who fully embraces her Afro-Latin and Caribbean roots.

Patricia’s mission at MCC is to help people critically analyze the messages they see in the media and explore how it impacts their lives. She also strives to educate and heal through challenging systemic oppression and advocating for social change.
